This is a fabulous book. Why did I wait so long to read it? WHY? My sister already had this in the apartment and I waited! Why?!
It's no secret that I love superhero books, and I especially love joyful young superheroes, in the vein of something like the old New Warriors or the original Young Avengers run. And in this, Kamala Khan is perfect. She's young and headstrong, driven by a sense of right and brimming with pop culture references but using them in a way that doesn't feel like Tumblr: The Comic.
The Terrigan Bomb has made a bunch of new Inhumans, among them Kamala. Her idolization of Ms. Marvel drives her to be a hero, and learn a bit about herself. I love that some of her struggles are the typical teenage superhero thing a la Spider-man, but others are different, owing to Kamala being a Pakistani-American Muslim. The book got a lot of buzz over that fact. But honestly, don't read it because of that. Enjoy that aspect, but read it because it's an excellent superhero comic.
