The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (Marvel Classics) - 'Eric Shanower', 'L. Frank Baum' This was worth it for the art alone, it really was. Young has no shortage of talent, but more than that, he has a fantastic way of imagining a world in his unique style and giving it all the little touches that help the reader fully realize that world and incorporate it into their mental image of whatever place the comic takes place in. Writing-wise, I'm a little more torn. There's an innocence to the original books and that's captured neatly in much of the cadence of the dialogue. But there are times things feel just a little rushed, leaving some scenes with a sort of drive-by quality.Overall, read it if you love Oz or if you're new to Oz. It's an adorable little book, great to read alone or with family, young or old.
