What a lovely, painful, real story this was. I love this author's way with words - the cadence of the stories our heroine tells, the way things are described, the lonliness of the islands, the realities of the many places she finds herself in... I very much enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the heroine and her pragmatic approach to life. I loved the glimpse into her family's life and society it offered us. I loved the variety of characters we were given, and the natural progression of the story. I found it to be a quick read - once I started it, I read it pretty much over a 24-hour period on and off.
