Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Promise, Part 1 - Gene Luen Yang, Bryan Konietzko, Michael Dante DiMartino, Gurihiru If you liked the show, you'll probably like this comic, a continuation of where the story left off in the show. The art looks very similar to the cartoon's style, and the writer got the voices right on.The tale follows the growing pains of Aang and Zuko as they try to get comfortable in their new leadership roles. This is made uncomfortable when they find that restoring peace to the world isn't as simple as they thought it would be.I'll admit, the main story between Zuko and Aang isn't as interesting to me as the backup with Toph's metalbending academy, but I also think it's important to point out that incorporating a comedic B plot with a more serious main plot was part of what made the show so engaging and it does work here.
