This is, bar none, my favorite book, and has been for more than a decade. will something eventually supplant it? Possibly. but its had a good long run, and I've lost count of how many times I've reread it. Enough to wear out the first copy for certain.I think it's the characters, and the way they interact with one another and with the world around them, that really made this a special one for me. It made everything seem so realized. Not to mention the world always gives this weird dual feeling of both stopping just beyond where they characters are and of a history, a depth and breadth that dwarfs their quest itself.
